I am currently in the first year of my Masters working on the photonic real-time control of quantum dot spectral diffusion. Utilizing neuromorphic photonic chips I will actively predict the resonant wavelength of a quantum dot. Using this prediction, correction to the wavelength can be done by changing the charge environment of the quantum dot (ie. PIN bias voltage). This control mechanism enables quantum photonic devices to scale beyond the few photons of current hardware.
As a graduate student in the Shastri Lab and Quantum Nanophotonics Lab, I partake in state of the art research at the intersection of neuromorphic and quantum photonics.
I hail from Sarnia, Ontario, and was practically raised in the blue water of lake Huron. I have a passion for travel, and the culture, food, and music that comes with it.
Engineering physics is at the collision point of core engineering design principles and a deeper knowledge of classical and modern physics. These elements combined with strong instrumentation skills and experience in a sub specialty of your choice, electrical, mechanical, materials, or computing, leads to a competent well-rounded engineer.
My current long term goal involves pursuing a career in research with a focus in neuromorphic computing and quantum machine learning. I have always been fascinated with the human brain and I hope to discover something that could help answer our deepest "Why?"" questions. Quantum machine learning trys to utilize what we already know about artifical intellgence while using quantum effects such as superposition and entanglement.
Although some might not call it an accomplishment, the thing that I am most proud of is my travels. At 18 years old I bought a one way ticket to India and spent four and a half months travelling through central, west, and south India and Nepal with only my backpack. Nothing I have done in my life has had a bigger impact than the time I spent experiencing different ways of life.
